Description
CHBA’s Adaptiv Home Renovation Course is aimed at renovators, designers, and other professionals who want to learn more about the aging in place market and the growing business opportunities across the country. The emphasis of this course is on improving design with safety, security, ease of use, comfort, accessibility, and occupant health, and will include a building knowledge component.
The Adaptiv Home Renovation Course is the first step in becoming part of a network of professionals who offer services to homeowners who want to live in their home safely and comfortably for as long as possible regardless of age, ability, size, or circumstance. When done correctly with the homeowners in mind, home modifications can significantly improve quality of life.

The course includes a manual (which will be available digitally until the print version is ready—we are currently waiting completion of a related CSA standard), and covers five major sections: Part 1: The Adaptiv Home Market Part 2: Design Considerations Part 3: Building Knowledge Part 4: Specialized Knowledge Part 5: Resources
The final evaluation is written online on the last day of the course. Participants who obtain 70% or more on the final evaluation will receive a certificate of completion. Those who do not succeed in obtaining 70% will be provided an opportunity for re-assessment.
