Renovators, building officials and engineering service companies are invited to learn about retrofit best practices with available technologies and products, including:

• A practical introduction to building science fundamentals, focusing on house-as-a-system principles
• An overview of high-performance building enclosures
• Retrofit decision-making considerations
• A review key enclosure retrofit strategies, comparing exterior and interior approaches.
• Embodied carbon considerations for building enclosure retrofits

Troy is a highly experienced Registered Energy Advisor, architectural technologist and building science technician who has supported some of Canada’s largest home builders in developing sustainability programs and meeting new energy codes. Coming to us from Building Energy Inc., Troy joins Building Knowledge as Senior Project Manager, Greater Ottawa Area.

After starting his career in design roles for building system manufacturers, Troy founded his own residential and commercial design and drafting firm. The company boasted a wide range of successful new construction and renovation projects and was well known for its capabilities in energy efficiency.

Trevor Trainor, MSc., MASc
President & Building Science Specialist, Bawating Building Science

Trevor specializes in the performance of wall and roof systems in extreme, cold climates and applies the principles of building science to Indigenous housing issues. His experience in lab and field research, hydrothermal modeling, and forensic investigations gives him a unique perspective on the development of high-performance building enclosure designs.
